Mark preparing to mantle out the top of "Crisifix," a surprisingly easy and early send for him on this second trip. Brian Peres stands atop the boulder to document the attempt. This climb caters to someone of Mark's height, just not his inflexibility or his relative climbing strength so the send shocked many of us and left Mark mentally prepared for "easier" projects he planned on doing.

dunno if anyone noticed, but this is the best ass shot I've ever snapped with my camera skillz.
usually I get a blatant ass shot, but here the focus is more subtle. I meant to get a clear ass shot, and one that was not too humbling, but I actually caught mark at a moment of semi-triumph. how quaint!
oh, and congratulations on the ass and the send--much impressed with the send. gotta say, the ass has gotten smaller since I moved to OR. bob
